The ED at the old facility will be closed to ambulances starting at 7:30 am that day. All ambulances that come to the old ED will be rerouted to the new facility. On Dec. 27, the ED at the old hospital will be fully operational with staff, phones and equipment until the last patient at the old facility is transferred out on that day. During the transition period, patients who come to the old ED will be evaluated by a physician. If their condition is stable, they will be directed to drive to the new hospital. Patients needing immediate emergency attention will be stabilized and transferred to the new hospital by ambulance.
